You may notice our newsletter looks a little different this month! We’ve moved it onto our website for easier reading, sharing, and for families to find past updates in one place.
Welcoming November
As November arrives, we’re slowing down and soaking in the cozy spirit of the season. The days are growing shorter, and the air is a little crisper. It’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on everything we’re thankful for — especially our wonderful nursery families. This month, we also take time to honor Veterans Day, recognizing the brave men and women who have served our country and protected the freedoms we enjoy each day. As we head into the holidays, we’re celebrating gratitude, kindness, and connection — the heart of this season and of our little community here at Robbins Nest Nursery.

Safety First
6-9 Months
You have likely started or are about to start introducing solid foods to your little one. Make sure you know how to prepare and serve foods safely to avoid the risk of choking. We highly recommend taking an infant CPR/First-Aid class so you know what to do in an emergency.
12-18 Months
Your baby may start to have tantrums around this age. These are very normal and are more likely to occur when your child is tired. It is okay to let your child have the tantrum without intervening, as long as they are safe. You can give them space to calm down or take a moment for yourself, provided your child is in a safe environment. If you feel your child may hurt themselves during a tantrum, place them in a padded area or use a pillow to soften the surface. Remember, tantrums become less frequent with age.
Learning & Development
Here are some activities suggested by the CDC Milestones app that you can do with your child this month to encourage their development:
Engaging Activities
Sensory Play: Create a sensory bin with rice or beans. Add scoops and cups for exploration.
Art Projects: Use non-toxic crayons or finger paints to encourage creativity.
Outdoor Exploration: Take walks and explore nature. Talk about the colors and sounds you see and hear.
Reading Corner
Did you know children who are read to for 20 minutes a day are exposed to 1.8 million words per year? Here are some books we are reading this month:
Gentle Sleep Tip
Now that Daylight Savings has ended, many families are feeling the effects of the time change — especially when it comes to early morning wake-ups! If your little one’s sleep feels off, know that it’s completely normal. Their internal clock just needs a little time and consistency to reset. Stick with your regular bedtime routine, keep mornings calm and bright to help signal “wake time,” and avoid making big schedule changes too quickly. Most children adjust within a week or two.
If your family is still struggling to get back on track, let’s huddle! My Parenting Huddle sessions offer one-on-one support to help you create a personalized approach for smoother transitions and better sleep for everyone.
Conclusion
That’s all for now! We’re wishing our nursery families a peaceful November filled with warmth, gratitude, and a little extra sleep. Thank you for being such a special part of our Robbins Nest community.
